How to stop feeling discouraged

You’re the one encouraging others. You’re always there with a quote or a message or a good word for people when they’re discouraged.

But sometimes, you feel like you’re faking it.

Because you’re going through some stuff that’s hard, and you don’t want to let it show, because you’re the encourager.  You’re the cheerleader people count on to be there.

So you put on your enthusiasm mask and no one suspects a thing.

But you’re not feeling it.

For all of us, there are seasons when unexpected personal losses or financial pressures happen. There are times when you feel like your work doesn’t matter.  Like there’s no one out there.  Like what you’re sharing has no value.

Things that used to be simple, straightforward and happy now feel complicated, cloudy and frustrating.  I know, because I’ve been there too.

This year, I went through a HARD season where I couldn’t shake my deep discouragement.  I couldn’t get back to the clarity and enthusiasm I used to have. I felt like I was trapped in an awful bubble and I couldn’t get out.

Then I found my answer.

And it probably isn’t what you’re expecting me to say.

Because it’s not a system, a formula or even anything to do with ME really…

I turned to a higher source for wisdom.

I turned to God.

And you know what He showed me?

That everything I’d been crying about, praying for, begging Him to do for me….

well, it’s already been DONE.

He spoke to my heart and told me HOW to stop the worry and anxiety by believing in FAITH for what I need and THANKING Him as if it’s already done, because it is. (Philippians 4:6-7)

So every time I felt myself about to blubber out another “helpppppp” prayer through my tears of discouragement, I’d say thank you God that _________ is already done for me.”

Even when I didn’t feel it, I SPOKE it.

That’s a big key.  Why?  Because death and life are in the power of the tongue.

So, I started looking up every passage related to what I needed. I wrote them down and began to say them out loud and declare them over my life.  I started thanking Him for His promises.

And the more I did it, the more things turned around in my heart, my life and yes, even my business.

Trade in your problems for peace.

“Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in”.  Gal 6:9

Do you have a favorite passage?  I’d love to hear which one it is. We all benefit when we encourage each other 🙂
